REDISCOVERING DUTCH ELEGANCE ALONG AMSTERDAM’S HISTORIC CANALS.
Studio Lidderdale was invited by the agency KesselsKramer to collaborate together on rebranding the Pulitzer as the hotel completely renovated their interiors. The expansive hotel is housed in 25 historic canal homes dating from the 17th century. The interiors were updated into a more contemporary aesthetic while keeping the structures of the original monumental buildings. The new visual identity showcases the merging of modern and historic design in its logo which is inspired by masonry cornerstones. This approach continues with a new symbol echoing the iconic shapes of the house gables, and with the way-finding signage, which is made of handcrafted traditional dutch tiles. Some tiles guide guests through the maze of houses which compose the hotel, while others display how close important locations are in the surrounding neighbourhood.
